**David Binney Proudly Announces the Release of *Tomorrow’s Journey**
We are thrilled to share that *Tomorrow’s Journey*, the latest endeavor by the talented David Binney, beautifully epitomizes his artistry and genre-defying innovation. This remarkable album is a bold proclamation in the realm of contemporary music, setting a new standard for creativity and originality.
David Binney expresses his excitement, stating, “This record represents my commitment to pushing the boundaries of my compositions for an acoustic ensemble while encapsulating the vibrant energy of live performances within the studio. Achieving this goal was challenging, but I believe we have surpassed our own expectations.”
Leading an exceptionally gifted ensemble from Los Angeles, Binney showcases the talents of pianists Luca Mendoza and Paul Cornish, bassists Ethan Moffit and Logan Kane, drummer Benjamin Ring, percussionist Kenny Wolleson, and brass musicians Aaron Janik and Jon Hatamiya. He shares, “Exploring the sound of two basses was uncharted territory for me. While I’ve recorded numerous projects with two drummers, this marks my first album entirely featuring two basses.”
Describing *Tomorrow’s Journey* as his most intricate acoustic project to date, Binney attributes this depth to the ample time he dedicated to composition and rehearsal in his home studio. The album was recorded at the distinguished Next Recorders in East Los Angeles, a venue renowned for hosting talents such as Los Lobos and Rufus Wainwright.
Following his electronic explorations in 2020, this album signifies Binney’s triumphant return to acoustic ensemble music, bringing forth a collection of mostly original compositions, alongside “Casa” by Luca Mendoza and “Cali Culture,” co-composed with the esteemed Ambrose Akinmusire.
A noteworthy figure in the jazz world, David Binney has an illustrious career, having recorded over 20 albums and contributed to more than 300 others. His impressive collaborations include performances with celebrated artists, as well as co-founding the acclaimed groups “Lost Tribe” and “Lan Xang.” Binney has meticulously produced all 22 of his albums and played a pivotal role in shaping the ensemble featured on David Bowie’s final masterpiece, *Blackstar*.
Hailing from Miami and raised in Southern California, Binney relocated to New York City at 19, significantly influencing the jazz scene. Now based in Los Angeles, he continues to produce captivating music and perform around the globe.
